Yes, yes, yes! I think one of the reasons people need the outward show on V Day (cards, chocolates, flowers, etc.) is because the true expression of love is absent the rest of the year. Sad, but true.

Well put – you have done a great job of articulating not only the problem I have with Valentine’s day but with weddings as well. So many people have dreams of big exciting weddings but not really any thought about what happens afterwards. No wonder the phrase “The honeymoon is over” generally doesn’t mean “The honeymoon is over and now we’re going to have a wonderful lifetime together as best friends and allies.”
